WORLD SLOTH BEAR DAY 2022

“World Sloth Bear Day"

The Sloth bear is a vulnerable species of the Indian subcontinent and also a significant part of the Aravalli’s ecosystem.
Sloth Bears have been a part of our rich mythological history. However, sadly, they have also been a part of economic practices - sloth bears have been used by 'Kalandars' as Dancing bears and have been the source of income for their generations.
To raise awareness about sloth bears and educate people in ways to help their existence within our ecosystem, observing the first ever World Sloth Bear Day, 2022 on October 12.
“Wildlife SOS India proposed to the IUCN that 12th October be declared as World Sloth Bear Day to draw attention to the conservation and protection of the unique bear species.
